MARCH 26 - High Court Alor Star has ordered blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin, group chief editor and editor of PKR’s Suara Keadilan to pay a total of RM7mil to Universiti Utara Malaysia and its vice-chancellor Tan Sri Dr Nordin Kardi for libel. The order was granted after Raja Petra and the tabloid's representative or their counsel failed to appear in court.Nordin told the reporter that his action would inspire others including politicians and artistes to take legal action against people who abused blogs. "Those who indiscriminately hurled slander in their blogs should also take this as a lesson that they would not escape the law."
